Exclusion Zone (in Chernobyl)

Definition:

The exclusion Zone refers to the area extending up to 30 km in all directions around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that was most contaminated by the accident.

After the accident, its population was evacuated and all agricultural and industrial activities were suspended.

There are plans to make use of the Exclusion Zone. Since it is unsuitable for residential or agricultural purposes, it could be used for activities such as the processing of radioactive waste or the development of natural reserves.
