Belgische Föderale Wissenschaftspolitik

"Die Aufgabe, die der Abteilung föderale Wissenschaftspolitik zukommt, ist die Vorbereitung, Ausführung und Beurteilung der Wissenschaftspolitik sowie der zugehörigen Einheiten. Dies meint im Speziellen:

• den Einsatz wissenschaftlicher und technischer Mittel als Unterstützung der Bundesbehörden; dies geschieht im Rahmen eines Regierungsmandats und über die Generaldirektionen „Recherches et Spatial“ (Forschung und Weltraumtechnik) und „Coordination et Information“ (Koordination und Information)
• den Aufbau einer permanenten Fachkompetenz an den Universitäten und Forschungszentren, die im Dienste der Bundesbehörden in den Bereichen Wissenschaft und Technik stehen
• die Unterstützung der zehn wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen des Bundesstaates, die dem SPP Politique scientifique (Bundesdienststelle für Arbeitsplanung: Wissenschaftspolitik) sowie dem Informationsdienst SIST und dem Forschungsnetzwerk Belnet unterstehen, bei ihrer administrativen, finanziellen und materiellen Abwicklung sowie bei der Koordination und der Beurteilung ihrer Forschungsaktivitäten wie auch ihrer wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten im öffentlichen Dienst
• darüber hinaus sind der Premierminister und der Minister für Wissenschaftspolitik im Januar 2002 übereingekommen, dass sich die Abteilung der Frage nach den geraubten Kulturgütern der jüdischen Gemeinde während des Krieges annehmen solle"

Countdown 2010

Europäishe Kommission

"The European Commission embodies and upholds the general interest of the [European] Union and is the driving force in the Union's institutional system. Its four main roles are to propose legislation to Parliament and the Council, to administer and implement Community policies, to enforce Community law (jointly with the Court of Justice) and to negotiate international agreements, mainly those relating to trade and cooperation."

Millennium Ecosystem Assessment

"The MA is an international work program designed to meet the needs of decision makers and the public for scientific information concerning the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being and options for responding to those changes.

The MA was launched by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan in June 2001 and it will help to meet assessment needs of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Convention to Combat Desertification, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, and the Convention on Migratory Species, as well as needs of other users in the private sector and civil society.

If the MA proves to be useful to its stakeholders, it is anticipated that an assessment process modeled on the MA will be repeated every 5–10 years and that ecosystem assessments will be regularly conducted at national or sub-national scales."

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

Umweltprogramm der Vereinten Nationen

"Das Umweltprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (UNEP), das 1972 gegründet wurde, setzt sich für die Förderung nachhaltiger Entwicklung durch gesunde Umweltpraktiken ein. Seine Aktivitäten umfassen die Förderung von Umweltwissenschaften und -informationen sowie eine Frühwarn- und Notfallreaktionskapazität für den Umgang mit Umweltkatastrophen. "

United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre

Das UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre ist die Untersuchungs- und Politikberatungseinheit des UNO Umweltprogramms, der wichtigsten internationalen Umweltorganisation. UNEP-WCMC forscht seit 25 Jahren zur Biodiversität und stellt Entscheidungsträgern praktische Politikberatung zur Verfügung, damit diese den Wert der biologischen Vielfalt erkennen und dieses Wissen anwenden.
