Ze worden zowel in de industrie als in medische en consumptieproducten gebruikt. Er is publieke bezorgdheid over ftalaten, omwille het gebruik ervan op grote schaal en hun aanwezigheid in het milieu. Wat is er gekend over de mogelijke effecten op het milieu en de gezondheid?
Mogelijke effecten van vijf van de meest gebruikte ftalaten werden door het Europese Bureau voor chemische stoffen geëvalueerd.
